PURPOSE
To discuss, assess and document the views of local people on housing, development in Mossley, as part of the research process to develop a neighbourhood plan for Mossley.
PLEASE COME AND TELL US WHAT YOU THINK – YOUR VOICE IS IMPORTANT!!
BACKGROUND
Mossley Town Council has announced its intention to develop a Town Plan. Essentially this document will be a long-term plan recognised by local and national government. It will contain a template to build an exciting future for the town through the implementation of ambitious ideas, strategies and commitments. It will also stipulate what the town wants to adjust, challenge and change.
This intention was announced at a Town Council meeting on 22 July – attended by 25 local people and elected councillors. The TC invited those present to identify areas/issues which they felt must be in the plan if it is to succeed. The initial list compiled is as follows:
1. Culture and Heritage
2. Transport
3. Environment
4. Town Centre Design
5. Housing
6. Living Well/Youth and Community Provision
7. Infrastructure
Individuals and group members present at the meeting were then asked if they would take these issues to the wider community as part of a research and consultation process, to gather people’s thoughts and ideas, which will ultimately lead to the finished plan.
THIS FIRST PUBLIC MEETING WILL JUST LOOK AT HOUSING.
